WISE=WISH if you love education and health community builders start here:

maybe we are biased but what the first lady of qatar has being doing for nearly 20 years now is remarkable

a university partnership campus with world leading universities but particularly those empowering women and engineering

a research centre  educationaboveall   that became partner of about 40 countries concerned with refugee education

through the 2010s biannual wish and wise summits where e is for future of education and h for health

our bias - first education laureate sir fazle abed brac

qatars international summit centre can easily host 5000 delegates in normal times and is a few minutes from the education campus just outside the town center

over the years delegate bios like these have been shared on peoples who love education in every way we can empowerr youth chinese  india  singapore   france   bangladesh  philippines  ghana   usa

our experience is outside usa media are usually positively engaged in how can we celebrate eduxation getting better for youth livelihoods - when it comes to helping collaborate around sustinability goals this weakness of usa is extremely depressing to us parents in usa

there are various youth competitions and intrernships

this month saw a zoom on youth agency - at this sort of networking nowhere emulates wise

EAA-ReachOutToAsia presents our very first ‘Think Global Act Local’ webinar focused on the topic of Volunteerism as a Pathway to Engaged Global Citizenship”. This webinar includes guest speakers from UNESCO Doha and Virginia Commonwealth University in Qatar as well as two experienced ROTA Youth Volunteers.

04:06

i'll just give you a little background information about reach out to asia so roto was actually established back in 2005 as a then center under qatar foundation focused on providing access to quality education

in countries around asia mostly after disaster man-made or natural disasters

04:29

since our inception rota has provided ucation and training to over 1.5 million children and youth in over

15 countries in order to build their capacity to contribute to a sustainable future

04:45 in parallel rota at the heart of our work has focused also on volunteering 4:51

rota has conducted meaningful and impactful volunteering programs that have engaged and inspired many thousands of volunteers to play active roles in addressing educational and development challenges in their communities here in qatar and beyond in countries abroad

05:10

now in 2017 rota joined the education above all foundation or eaa is a global education foundation again focused on provision of quality education for many millions of children and youth around the world

three other core programs in eaa  educate a child which is focused on getting millions of out of school children into a quality primary education we have alpha hura which has worked mainly in palestine but has rebuilt countless schools and provides educational scholarships to allow youth to achieve their potential as well as peace

which advocates for the protection and right to education in conflict affected areas around the world

06:10

so since joining eaa rota has focused on a new on empowering youth those are aged between 15 and 24

to be inspired and active agents of change through global citizenship education

Though we have previously worked in this area of global citizen education we've now focused exclusively on this demographic that is used with a particular focus on marginalized youth that might be marginalized for social economic political even environmental factors

6:52

but you might ask what is global citizenship education so we use a definition that builds on the work of other agencies such as unesco and oxfam with a definition that global citizenship education

or gced involves any educational effort that provides the skills knowledge and experiences and to encourage the behaviors attitudes and values that enable youth to be agents of long-term positive

changes in their own lives and in their immediate and larger communities

and that seems like quite a mouthful butwhat we'll be doing in this webinar is talking about how volunteering contributes to developing active global citizens

07:41

so we'll be talking at we'll be unpacking this and defining the connection between the two

ideas today i'm joined by an incredible panel of guest speakers who are now invite to introduce themselves tell us where they're from who they work for and what they do

so if we could start with caitlin.. hi good afternoon everyone thank you
